Exporting candidates and reopening studies

Export

From Optimization Results, select a candidate and click Export...; from Candidate shortlist, select a row and click Export selected.... The application opens the Windows Save As dialog and intends to copy the exact evaluated candidate .CDX1 to the chosen destination.

Verify manually: after saving, check the file exists and open it in RASAero II. In Assignment 14, the Save dialog opened but the automated harness did not finish the operation; successful GUI export was not demonstrated.

The results directory also contains candidate-specific candidate_design.CDX1 files, which provide an important recovery route while GUI export remains unverified.

Saved results

The app offers File → Open saved results... and Open saved results... in the Optimization tab. These use a directory chooser: select the output folder containing the saved study, not an individual .json or .csv file.

Keep the whole output directory, especially results.csv, optimization_summary.json, search_config.json, and candidates/ and each candidate's design/data. Do not move only the summary and expect its source files to follow automatically.

Verification gap: Assignment 14 did not test reopening a saved session after fully closing and restarting the optimizer. Try a small study before relying on preservation of long runs.

Source basis: Assignment 14 review materials supplied with this documentation. Internal archive paths and raw evidence are not published.
